Senior Database Specialist PostgreSQL & MongoDB

Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a Senior Database Specialist with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and MongoDB to join the Data Foundation team. This role focuses on managing and optimizing application databases within a cloud-based environment while supporting development teams and contributing to scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Oracle databases within a cloud environment
• Perform database operations including performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization
• Collaborate with product development teams to support database-related development and enhancements
• Provide runtime support and troubleshooting for database-driven applications
• Engage with project teams to understand requirements and recommend appropriate database solutions
• Work alongside architects to design and implement robust and scalable database architectures
• Execute core DBA activities such as backup, recovery, patching, and upgrades
• Contribute to improving database reliability, performance, and security standards
• Drive automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort
• Support monitoring, incident handling, and on-call activities when required

Required Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB in production environments
• Solid experience working with databases in AWS (Amazon Web Services)
• Advanced SQL skills, including query writing and performance optimization
• Knowledge of both relational and NoSQL database concepts
• Ability to independently manage tasks and drive technical initiatives
• Experience in handling large-scale database environments and implementing changes
• Familiarity with database monitoring tools
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and automation in database environments
• Exposure to on-call support and incident management

Experience Required:

Relevant senior-level experience in database administration and engineering, particularly in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud-based environments

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Language Requirement:

• English – Professional proficiency (spoken and written)
